Those two uniquely colored pigeons that I posted about a while ago have gone MIA. The last few nights I have been letting them out to walk around the top of the loft. Putting them through the trap etc… Making sure they know how to get back in. I did this with the last bunch of youngsters and everything worked out great. The previous few nights, they just stayed on the loft and after a while walked back in through the trap back into the loft.
Last night they stood on the loft for a few minutes and then suddenly they took off. Their first flight. It was great to watch them, you could tell they were learning as they went. They swooped in low, and made a bunch of circles around the area. My other birds had not flown this well their first time. I was thoroughly entertained by watching them. After a few minutes I went back inside to take care of some things.
As it started to get dark, I went out to feed and water the birds as I do each night. Those two birds had not returned. I went back out with a flashlight later and still they weren’t back. I am hoping they will show up at some point today. I’ll have to wait to check when I get home from work. I would hate to lose those birds. They were my favorite ones.

Update:
Just got home. One of the birds is back in the loft. Hopefully I’ll see the other one soon too.
Update II:
Still no sign of the other one. I let the one back out tonight and he flew with my other birds. Again, he wasn’t back in the loft at dark. Back to having both of them lost again. Doh!
Update III:
One bird is back tonight. Looks like I may have really lost the one. 
Update IV:
Wow, today both of the birds are back in the loft. I wonder what kind of adventure the one bird had while being gone that many days.
Pigeons really amazingly come back to their place in 99% cases in my opinion.
